We started on Thanksgiving Day, 2007. My Mom’s friend, Ruby, had given her an old, large tin of buttons. I was running my fingers through them and the thought came that those buttons would make some beautiful jewelry. At the time I worked for The Silver Mine in the Carolina Mall. They showed me how to use wire, string beads, and attach toggles. I made my first bracelet and I’m still wearing it today.
I believe that when you wear a piece of jewelry, you want a piece or combination of pieces that compliment your natural beauty. You don’t want jewelry that covers up who you are. You want jewelry that makes a statement about who you are as a person, and at the same time compliments your features. This is what Daltre’s Jewelry does for anyone who wears it. Every piece of jewelry has a story to tell. Each button belonged to someone at one time. Some of these shells have traveled the seas and been in different countries. We have beads that come from different parts of the world. If they could tell us their stories, we would be amazed. So, when you purchase a piece of Daltre's Jewelry, whether it’s with buttons, beads, or shells, they become a part of your story. My name, Kemet means rich, dark, fertile soil. The country of Egypt used to be called Kemet. Just as my name is rich in quality, character, depth and meaning, so is the jewelry I create from my heart. I embrace life and the people that make up the moments of my life. I embrace my creativity and ability to create vibrant colorful, classy, pieces of art that when worn by a girl or a woman, compliment their natural beauty. You want jewelry to bring out who you are. You want to wear jewelry that will give attention to you, the vessel, the person adorning the unique works of art. |
